All-Stars set for district openers

CROWLEY – With league action already in the books for over a month now, the Crowley Recreation Department has 11 teams set to participate in All-Star action beginning this weekend at various sites around the state.
Crowley has two Pinto League teams that will by vying for a district championship this weekend in Mamou while two of the three Mustang teams, the Americans and the Nationals, will be competing in Jennings for a state tournament berth.
The Pinto Americans will take on St. Landry at 6 p.m. Friday while the Nationals will also take on St. Landry at 7:30 the same evening.
The Mustang Americans will take on Iowa at 7:45 p.m. Friday while the Nationals will begin play Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Mustang 9-year-old team will be in action next weekend in Iota when they participate in the state tournament. Their first game is slated for Friday, July 16 at 6 p.m. against St. Landry.
The Crowley Bronco team will be in action in Eunice this weekend while the Pony All-Stars have the weekend off before hosting the state tournament beginning on July 16.
The Bronco Americans will play South St. Landry Friday at 6 p.m.
Brackets for the Pony state tournament were not released.
In girls’ softball action, the Crowley Lil Biddy All-Stars will travel to St. Amant Friday to take part in a regional tournament. They will also compete in a Regional in Crowley beginning on July 16 along with Crowley’s 10U, 12U and 14U All-Star squads.
