Garden Club announces flower show
CROWLEY – The Crowley Garden Club is presenting their twenty-ninth annual Standard Flower Show themed “Check It Out, The Acadia Parish Library – A Garden of the Mind” in honor of our parish libraries. The event will be staged at Crowley City Hall on May 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and May 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Horticulture presentations and special exhibits will be displayed on the first floor of City Hall. Entries for horticulture may be submitted by both members and non-members and the public is also encouraged to participate.
These fresh presentations may include annuals and biennials, perennials, bulbs, roses, trees and shrubs, vines, cut ornamental foliage and container grown plants including group plantings.
Horticulture entries will be judged on cultural perfection, condition and grooming, distinction and the correct botanical identification of the entry.
Members of the Crowley Garden Club will participate in the design division of the show which will be set up on the second floor of City Hall. Entrants will be presenting fresh or dried flower arrangements to be judged on conformance to the schedule requirements, design, artistic expression and distinction.
Special “educational” exhibits by both the Acadia Parish Library and the Crowley Art Association will be featured as well.
For complete details and guidelines for entries, interested persons may contact Sissy Gall, general chairman at 783-7289 or Georgie Petitjean, co-chairman at 783-4545.
