National Organization of University Women celebrate founders day

Center on January 24, 2010 during its Centennial Annual Founder’s Day. Members in attendance at the worship service were from left, President Ezora J. On Sunday, January 24, 2010, the members of the Crowley Branch- National Association of University Women celebrated founder’s day by attending church services at the Greater Love Worship Center with Bishop and Mrs. Louis Dugar, the Greater Love church family and NAUW pacesetters. Following the worship service the group enjoyed a delicious meal and wholesome fellowship at Heaven Diner Restaurant in Crowley.
Crowley Branch- NAUW was organized in 1967 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Amos with seven outstanding Acadia Parish educators. Mrs. Grace Brown is a charter member and she is still very active today.
NAUW’s purpose is to provide community services through youth development, school adoption programs, food for the needy, Black History month programs, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, reading jubilee, story hour, Easter egg hunt, Love Feast, and Little Mr. and Mrs. NAUW Pageant.
Mrs. Mary C. Ferrell and three other associates founded the NAUW in 1910 in Washington, D.C. with 20 University graduates. The NAUW partners with the National Coalition for Literacy, American Council on Education, NAACP, United Negro College Fund, National Council of Negro women, National Education Association and numerous other organizations.
