BATON ROUGE – Former St. Martin Parish President Scott Angelle has accepted a job as “the governor’s lobbyist,” it was announced Wednesday.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon, D-Napoleonville, announced this week that Louisiana will be eligible for up to $40 million in federal disaster aid to restore and rebuild the state’s fish habitats and fishing industries devastated by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Shooting suspect still at large after a month

St. Martinville — The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. Martinville Police Department have yet to locate Jules Mallery, who is wanted for a double kidnapping and shooting that occurred on Oct. 19. Both departments are asking for the public's help.

BREAUX BRIDGE – On Nov. 29, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, all of downtown becomes a vibrant artists’ quarter when the Breaux Bridge Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Art Walk and Merchants’ Open House, featuring the works of some 30 artists ranging from folk to funk, from chainsaw sculpture to worked metal and from functional to aesthetic, and including film and literary works.
