Game Time: Midland vs. Rapides for all the marbles

CROWLEY – Todd Briley has a simple message for his Midland Rebels heading into tonight’s Class B state championship showdown with No. 1-seed Rapides.
That message: forget about Tuesday night and focus on today.
And while that may be easier said than done, it is imperative the Rebels do just that if they hope to win their first Class B state championship since 1977.

CROWLEY – Midland’s run to the Class B state title game is rekindling some old memories for Rebels fans, one in particular.
Clyde Briley, father of present Midland coach Todd Briley, was head coach of the Rebels from 1967 to 1980, during which time, the school became a virtual powerhouse in boy’s Class B basketball.

Fontenot provides spark in Midland's semfinal victory

CROWLEY – With Miles Prejean, B.J. Cormier and Colby Gantt carrying the bulk of the offensive load for Midland during the 2009-10 season, Allen Fontenot had been relegated to the role of defensive specialist and rebounder for the Rebels.
That all changed Tuesday.
With his team in need of an offensive spark in their Class B semifinal showdown against perennial power Zwolle, Fontenot stepped up in a huge way.
