Rickey Jackson hosts golfers on Hall of Fame election day

MARKSVILLE -- Less than 36 hours before kickoff of the Super Bowl XLIV, five of the biggest names in New Orleans Saints football history were in Marksville playing a round of golf this morning, and gave their predictions for Sunday's big game. Two of the players are some of the all-time fan favorite, Ricky Jackson and Dalton Hilliard.

LSU taking ticket requests for season-opener in Atlanta

BATON ROUGE – LSU is currently taking ticket requests for the Tigers’ 2010 season-opener in football against North Carolina in the Chick-fil-A Classic in Atlanta. Requests are being taken from both season ticket holders as well as the general public.
Ticket prices are $60 and $85 and they can be purchased at the LSU ticket office or over the Internet at www.LSUsports.net/tickets.

Pios fall to Catholic High in soccer playoffs

NEW IBERIA – Notre Dame's soccer season came to an abrupt halt Saturday when they were defeated by district rival Catholic High of New Iberia, 4-2, in the opening round of the Division III playoffs.
Notre Dame led 1-0 at the half and 2-1 with 10:15 remaining in regulation before Catholic reeled off three unanswered goals down the stretch.
The Pios finished the season with a record of 9-4.

Gents dominate Eunice

EUNICE – The Crowley High Gents proved why they are the District 4-3A leader as they overwhelmed an undermanned Eunice High Bobcat squad 76-44 Friday night in the Bobcat gym.
The win kept the Gents undefeated in district play with a 7-0 record. Overall, the Gents sport a 17-6 mark.
The loss left the Bobcats with a district record of 2-5 and an overall record of 8-14.
Eunice kept the game competitive in the early going when Demetrius Hebert and D’ondric Veal hit goals from 3-point range for a 6-3 lead.

CHS Ladies top Eunice in overtime

The Eunice High Lady Bobcats suffered a tough District 4-3A loss to the Crowley High Ladies Friday night at the Bobcat gym.
After a slow start, Coach Brett Simien’s Lady Bobcats clawed their way back to tie the game in the final seconds to force overtime. But Crowley would dominate in the extra period, outscoring the Lady Cats 9-1 for the victory.
The loss was a costly one for the Eunice girls as they dropped to 4-5 in district play. Overall, the Lady Cats are 7-10.
