That Colts sweatshirt isn't about Super Bowl

It's a reminder of a city, and its people

EUNICE -- People hereabouts look at me a little funny as I walk around in a Colts sweatshirt these days.

Governor Edwin Edwards Book - Ronald Falgout

Outstanding author Leo Honeycutt, researched and documented many buried and/or long forgotten facts about brilliant and controversial Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards, from his birth, until he was apparently railroaded into prison.
In this book, you will clearly see the Conductor as he prepares the train for the trip; you’ll see how certain witnesses are rendered disabled, and for a price, they agree to board the train, with the help of Porters who are only too happy to help the disabled climb aboard, before “the train leaves the station.”

Are Republicans 'due'?

Thomas-Sowell.jpg

When a baseball player has come to bat after failing to get a hit twenty times in a row, some fans say he is "due" for a hit. But statisticians say he is no more likely to get a hit in this at bat than at any other time. In other words, there is no such thing as being "due."
After the Republicans went from being the dominant party, at both the state and national levels, just a few years ago, and got clobbered at the polls by the Democrats two elections in a row, some people think the Republicans are "due" to make a comeback in this fall's elections.

U.S. Chamber launches jobs initiative

There is no better time than now for Louisiana to join in this effort and to demonstrate how the creative and hard-working people of our state have contributed and will continue to contribute to the success of our nation.

Raul Castro turns into big brother Fidel

Popular singer Carlos Varela (known as “Cuba’s Bob Dylan”) came here in December “Trying to Sway America’s Cuba Policy With Song and Easy Talk” (New York Times, Dec. 29), and even had lunch with a senior White House official. However, it is now grimly clear that Raul and Fidel Castro are interchangeable, as Raul keeps adding more “prisoners of conscience” (as Amnesty International describes them) to the gulags.

A narrow road leads to the Abshire Cemetery about eight miles northeast of Kaplan in Vermilion Parish. There are about 100 graves in the little cemetery. There is also a stone cross with an inscription. It reads:
