The Ville Platte City Council held a brief meeting Monday, September 29, to propose an ordinance that would secure 12 percent of the proposed millage (30 mills) for salaries of full-time civil service and non-civil service employees of the city.
Mayor Bill Jeanmard said it was always part of the plan to secure this 12 percent for salaries and a public hearing will be held during the council’s meeting Tuesday, October 14, at 5 p.m.
However, if the proposed millage, which is on the ballot October 4, fails to pass, the ordinance will die.
