Gents run past Runnels
ALEXANDRIA – The Crowley Gents took another step towards a Top-16 seed late last week with an 8-3 thumping of Class B’s top-ranked Runnels at Lousiana College’s Allgood Field.
The Gents pounded out 12 hits overall, but did most of their damage in the first two innings.
Crowley plated two runs in the first inning and five in the second to take a commanding 7-0 advantage.
Runnels scored one run in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Jake Trahan (6-4) picked up the win, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk. He struck out three in six and a third innings.
Beau Desselle paced the Gents with a 3-for-4 performance that included a triple and two RBI.
Mike Doughty also had two hits and two RBI and Kyron Benoit was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Trahan (double), Seth Beglis and Chad Hoffpauir each had one hit and one RBI, Brian Broussard had a triple and Tyler Dupuis had a single.
