Sheriff's Office arrests Rayne man

RAYNE – 38 year old Markel Romero of Robin Street, Rayne is being held in the Acadia Parish Jail after deputies responded to a domestic violation complaint at his residence Thursday evening.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, following a brief investigation and the discovery of illegal narcotics, Romero was arrested and charged with domestic violence, driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with the intent to distribute schedule II narcotics, possession of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Romero has been placed in the Acadia Parish Jail.
In an unrelated incident, an Iota man was arrested by deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office and Iota Police Department following an indictment by a Calcasieu Parish Grand Jury for 2 counts of Molestation of a Juvenile.
According to Sheriff Melancon Nelson Manuel, Jr., age 41, was arrested without incident and turned over to deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
