Public Service Commissioner Clyde Holloway (Republican-Forest Hill) announced today the monthly meeting of the Louisiana Public Service Commission (Business and Economics Meeting) will be held in Crowley, Wednesday, July 28, 9:00 a.m. at the Rice Theater located in Downtown Crowley.

“I look forward to bringing different facets of the business community from throughout the state and various regions of the country and introducing them to this area of Louisiana. I take great pride in giving others the opportunity to learn of the spirit, work ethic, creativity and success of rural Louisiana. Of course, hosting the meeting in Crowley also brings dollars to area businesses,” stated Holloway. (The LPSC allows Commissioners to locate one meeting per year outside of Baton Rouge to a location within their respective districts.) The Commissioner reiterated, “hosting a meeting of this magnitude in my district once a year gives the public the opportunity to learn about the role the Commission plays in the business and the economy of our state as well as its impact on the daily lives of citizen rate-payers.”

The Louisiana Public Service Commission is composed of five members from throughout the state and regulates publicly owned utilities which offer electric, water, waste water, natural gas and telecommunication services. The PSC also regulates electric co-ops in Louisiana. Other areas of regulation include passenger carrier services, waste haulers, household good carriers, non-consensual towing and intrastate pipelines.

Holloway currently serves District IV which is comprised of all or parts of 17 parishes: Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Catahoula, Evangeline, Grant, Jefferson Davis, LaSalle, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St. Landry, St. Martin, Vermilion and Vernon.

Clyde Holloway took office as Commissioner in May 2009 after winning a special

election to fill the seat vacated by Dale Sittig. He was re-elected in July of 2010 to a six year term without opposition. Prior to serving as Commissioner, Holloway was elected to Congress in 1986 where he served for three terms until Louisiana lost the Eighth Congressional District due to population loss/reapportionment. In 2006 he received an appointment by President Bush as the USDA State Director of Rural Development where he served until January 20 of 2009. Mr. Holloway and his wife Cathie are residents of Forest Hill where they have managed a successful nursery business for the past 40 years.
