Lil Master, Miss / Mr., Miss NAUW pageants set
The National Association of University Women, Inc., Crowley Branch, will hold its 40th annual Lil Master and Lil Miss / Mr. and Miss NAUW Pageant on Saturday, May 18, at 6 p.m.

Family, friends and staff at Gil’s I-10 East Chevron surprised Huey Cormier, 95 (standing second row, right-center, wearing cap), with a birthday celebration on Friday, March 15. Mr. Cormier is “a regular” at the station and was joined by a host of well-wishers for the surprise event. He is the former owner/operator of Cormier’s Barber Shop on North Parkerson Avenue from 1948 through 1998.

Israelite Baptist Church held its annual Black History program on Sunday, Feb. 25. This year’s theme was “Black Excellence in Every Aspect, Shade and Expression” (Scripture reference, Daniel 6:3). The keynote speaker for the occasion was Kristy Rose Johnson, left, Dean of Student Affairs, JCFA Charter School in Lafayette. Members of Israelite Baptist Church participated in the program, chaired by Cynthia Dominick, right. Pastor Ivan Lewis thanked all who participated.
