Junior, senior courts honored at BSP Sweetheart Ball

RAYNE - The 2019 Beta Sigma Phi Annual Sweetheart Ball was held Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Rayne Civic Center by the local Beta Sigma Phi chapters.
Each year, Beta Sigma Phi honors young ladies and gentlemen who are high school seniors and have achieved community, academic and athletic excellence. These outstanding young people comprise the junior court, while the senior court consists of two members of each BSP chapter (Sweetheart and Girl of the Year) as they are voted upon by their peers.
Since the founding in 1931, Beta Sigma Phi has grown to be the largest social, service and cultural organization in the world.
Rayne chapters sponsoring the annual event were Preceptor Alpha Iota, Preceptor Alpha Chi, and Gamma Kappa.
Young ladies honored on the junior court were MaKenzie Abshire, daughter of Jason and Kelly Abshire; Hanna Babineaux, daughter of Mitchell and Simone Babineaux; Morgan Boone, daughter of Kyle and Jody Boone; Jessi Cary, daughter of Lynette and Danny Guidry and Zachary and Nicole Cary; Caroline Comeaux, daughter of John Brent and Cheryl Comeaux; Jeanne-Claire Gossen, daughter of Carla and Dwayne Gossen; Alexis Hayes, daughter of Scotty and Nancy Vautrot Hayes; Jade Louviere, daughter of Blake and Angela Louviere; Allison Moore, daughter of Wendy Moore and the late David Moore and stepfather John Tiedemann; Lindsey Ortego, daughter of Blaise and Wendy Prather and Chad Ortego; Emma Pastor, daughter of Julie and Chad Pastor; Ashlyn Ratcliff, daughter of Phil and April Faul; Caylee Royer, daughter of Brandy Royer and Eddie Royer; and Caroline Zimmerman, daughter of Jack and Gayle Zimmerman.
The slate of young gentlemen included Matthew Abshire, son of Jason and Kelly Abshire; Wil Benoit, son of Kevin and Maureen Benoit; Caleb Bergeron, son of Shane and Dina Bergeron; Kane Bergeron, son of Jeremy and Christine Bergeron; Kameron Broussard, son of Kevin and Nicole DeJean Broussard; Wyatt Comeaux, son of Chris and Eva Comeaux; Luke Cormier, son of Ryan and Kendra Cormier; Hoden David, son of Tiffany Cart and Jody David; Zachary Fontenot, son of Scott and Mona Fontenot; Austin Gossen, son of Thomas and Nina Gossen; Cy “Deuce” Morgan II, son of Brad and Julie Lopez; Ezekiel Petitjean, son of Jonathan Petitjean; Alec Prevost, son of Jessica and Mark Prevost; Darian Richard, son of Mandy Marcantel and Benjamin Robin; and Luke Valdetero, son of Doug and Jackie Valdetero.
Ladies honored as Sweethearts from their respective BSP chapter were Paige Dupont (Gamma Kappa), Gretchen Dupuis (Preceptor Alpha Chi) and Patsy Faul (Preceptor Alpha Iota).
Girls of the Year honored during the introductions were Sarah Bergeron (Gamma Kappa), Myrna Constantin (Preceptor Alpha Chi) and Loretta Bordes (Preceptor Alpha Iota).
Following introductions, the first dance was held for the court, followed by a special dance by the court and a selection of their choice.
Special thanks are extended to all who assisted BSP in making the ball another success, with a special thanks to the parents and families of the junior court for being so supportive throughout their high school career.
Serving as mistress of ceremonies was Angie Gautreaux Trahan.
Providing musical entertainment for the evening was Blaine Dupont, while Treasured Memories Photography provided formal and ball pictures.
Preceptor Alpha Iota Chapter took care of the refreshments for the evening.
