Lady Wolves begin district play with win
RAYNE - The Lady Wolves Volleyball Team began district play on Thursday with a win over Northwest High, 25-18, 25-9, 25-15).
Emma Pastor and Savanna LaCombe shared net duties each recording five kills. Pastor added 1 dig which LaCombe had two digs and a block. Teammates Hannah McKenzie, Kennedie Bourgeois, Tiesha Young and Kendal Edmond added two apiece.
Assists were lead by McKenzie with 10 and Young and Lindsey Batten each with five.
In a non-district matchup at Breaux Bridge, the Lady Wolves dropped a three-set match (8-25, 15-25, 13-25) to the Lady TIgers.
Rayne net play was led by Peyton Richard, Tiesha Young, Kendal Edmond, Emma Pastor and Savanna LaCombe with kills, while Hannah McKenzie and Lindsey Batten led in assists. Back row play was led by Pastor, LaCombe, McKenzie and Taylor Thevis.
The Lady Wolves hosted Lafayette Christian Academy on Monday. Rayne fell in a close four-set match (17-25, 20-25, 25-23, 16-25).
Emma Pastor led Rayne kills with nine along with five digs. Peyton Richard collected four kills, while LaCombe, McKenzie, Thevis and Young each recorded three apiece.
In an agressive net game, LaCombe, Thevis and Young put up two blocks during the contest, joined by Edmond and McKenzie with one each.
The offense ran with 11 assists by McKenzie and seven by Young.
The Lady Wolves were scheduled to meet Crowley and Eunice this week in district play, followed by another district contest at Iota on Tuesday. They presently stand at 9-9 overall and 1-0 in district play.
