Rayne High School annual Chili Cook-Off set Feb. 9

Get your favorite chili recipe ready and cook up a storm during the Rayne High School PTO’s 3rd Annual RHS “Super Chili Bowl” Chili Cook-Off slated at the Frog Festival Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Teams may register for $20 per two-person team and entry/taster tickets are $10 and will include chili tasting privileges (children 5 and under receive free tickets). Each team must prepare at least four (4) gallons of chili for the event.
Two categories will be available, domestic and wild game, as the top three winners will be awarded per category. A People’s Choice Award will also be presented for overall best chili, in addition to a best decorated booth award.
Set-up and cooking begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by a check-in/rules meeting at 1:30 p.m. Chefs turn in entries to judges at 4:30 p.m. and the public tasting begins at 5 p.m. Awards will be presented at 7:45 p.m.
Gates for the public to enter open at 2 p.m. The live auction will commence at 6:30 p.m. and all are urged to participate.
Live entertainment will be provided by Jamie Bergeron at 8 p.m. and Temporary Fix at 5:30 p.m. DJ entertainment will also be provided throughout the day.
The day-long event will also include concessions, non- and alcoholic beverages, live auction, live entertainment/DJ, a wash-board tournament (3 p.m.) and games for all family members.
A big obstacle course, ball race and pugil pit will also be provided by the National Guard.
