RAYNE - The Lady Wolves began their district basketball season on a down note as they dropped a 74-41 home loss to Washington-Marion.
The Indians pulled ahead 31-11 at the half and never gave the Lady Wolves to get back in the ballgame for their district opener.
Leading Rayne scorers was Braille Washington with 30 points.
Finishing up the Rayne points were Paige Figaro with six, Halle Young at four and a free throw by Nae Francis.
In other district action, Rayne High was scheduled to host Eunice this week, followed by a road contest on Friday at North Vermilion and a home game on Tuesday playing host to LaGrange High School.
The Wolves are schedule to begin district this week with their district opener against Eunice High, followed by a road contest on Friday at North Vermilion.
During a intra-parish rivalry on Friday, the Wolves captured a 47-35 win over Crowley High as they prepare for district play.
In their win over Crowley, Leon Smith top Rayne scorers with 16 points, followed by Lance Smith with a dozen. Completing Rayne points during the win were Antonio Cormier with 10 points, four by Rico Price, a bucket by Tayshaun Colomb and Desmond Mouton and a free throw by Don Charles.
