Wolves continue district play, Ladies enter post-season play

RAYNE - With the Wolves trying to improve their district slate, the Lady Wolves are waiting to begin post-season action this week.
As the state 4-A brackets released early Wednesday morning, the Lady Wolves will meet hit the road this week against No. 3-ranked West Ouachita in the opening round of the 2019 LHSAA Softball Playoff 4-A Bracket.
The Lady Wolves will travel to West Ouachita on Friday for the 4 p.m. bi-district contest.
Ranked in the 30th slot, the Lady Wolves completed their district competition with a 4-6 slate competing against Teurlings, St. Thoams More, Northside, Westgate and Carencro.
Bi-district action is slated April 17, with winners continuing on to the regional round April 21.
Quarter, semi and final teams will take to the field in Sulphur at Frasch Park April 26-28 during the Allstate Sugar Bowl / LHSAA Softball State Tournament.
Wolves
The Rayne High Wolves are presently positioned at the No. 13 seed in power ranking with a 5-2 district slate.
During Tuesday afternoon diamond action, the Wolves hosted Westgate High at Gossen Memorial Park.
The Wolves hit the diamond hard both on offense and defense against the Tigers and claimed an 1803 district win.
Rayne was scheduled to travel to New Iberia Wednesday for another district encounter as hey will try to sweep the Westgate Tigers in district play.
Rayne came off a 12-8 win over Carencro High on April 2 and a 11-0 shutout of Northside High on March 28.
The Wolves will complete their district slate on April 16 and 18 when they face St. Thomas More.
Fans wanting to take in weekend baseball action are invited to attend Saturday’s varsity and junior varsity games at Gossen Memorial park in Rayne with the Woves will host Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish.
