The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education on Wednesday appointed Dr. Cade Brumley to be the new State Superintendent of Education.
On Thursday, the Louisiana Department of Health reported 36,504 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.
This includes 1,188 more cases than were reported Wednesday.
Tri-Parish schools are to receive a share of $41.9 million in federal funding to help struggling schools.
The 2020 field day at the LSU AgCenter H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station will be held online only because of the challenges caused by the ongoing pandemic.
Public high schools across Acadia Parish will move forward with plans for outdoor commencement ceremonies this weekend, according to Superintendent Scott Richard.
