... Francis Burieigh Jr. of Church Point, president of the Acadia Cattlemen’s Assocation, extends congratulations to Miss Lori McGee daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Remi MeGee Jr. of Church Point, who was named Acadia Cattlemen’s Sweetheart at a tea held at Jack Hodges’ home in Crowley.
... Eleven members of the Crowley Business Professional Women’s Club traveled to Alexandria to attend the annual mid-year board meeting. Those participating included Myrtle Fontenot, Linda Reiners, Alice Quibodeaux, Stephanie Habetz, Willie Mae Daily, Doris Reiners, Bonnie Sarver, Tipsy Parker, Nancy de la Houssaye, Romona Credeur and Roxanne Istre.
... The annual cleanup for the Immaculate Conception Church was attended by nine Morse 4-H Club members who helped get the church in tip top shape. Those participating included Lenore Broussard, Debra Broussard, Delonda Weekly, Kathleen Weekly, Margaret Richard, Marvin McFarlain, Francis Leblanc, Christine LeJeune and Bernadine McFarlain.

... St. Francis Elementary seventh graders performed the “Nutcracker” in the school gym. Those taking part in the production included Wade LaCombe, Missy Bergeron, Amy Fabacher, Micah Fabacher, Ron Levy, Jennifer Francois, Cari Woods, Joe Zaunbrecher, Tori LeJeune, Rylan Navarre, Erica Brown, Brandon Garber, Amanda Bruchez, Lauren Murrell, Trey Romero, Ashley Garber and Corey Leger.
... Little Miss Merry Christmas Heather Spallino, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shane Spallino, rode with Santa Claus in the annual Kiwanis Christmas Parade.
... Among entertainment provided at the Little Miss Merry Christmas Pageant were dancers from Dolores Nutt School of Dance and gymnasts from Tumbling Tots and Teens. Those who performed were Alison Butler, Leah Wiggens, Abby Arledge, Tonya Bertrand, Jana Monceaux, Chloe Leleux, Jada Monceaux and Genie Trahan, Stacie Bageaux, Cassie Wiggens, Brooke Thibodeaux, Lauren Doucet, Emily Freeland, Kami Arledge, Tarra Wiggens, Colleen Koon, Laci Butler and Katy Douget.

... The third grade class of Christine Dailey at Morse Elementary School recently participated in the Flat Stanley, a pen pal project. During the project, paper dolls and letters are sent across the U.S. Students received letters from as far away as Canada and Slovakia and sent letters to the president, governor and the famous cake boss. Participants were Daden Benoit, Bailey Borill, Kameron Broussard, Katelynn Brown, Carley Clark, Andrea Dominguez, Mason Gauthreaux, Lily Hoffpauir, Khloe Istre, Dante Lacomb, Caison Langley, Madison Larry, Morgan Monceaux, Keaghan Meaux an Alex Simon.
... Classmates of the Iota High School class of 1941 who attended their 68th class reunion at Chef Roy’s Frog City Cafe in Rayne were Helen Hanks, Lillie Hebert, James Duncan, June Henderson and John Emery Bourque.
... 2009 Miss Merry Christmas Alison Mire and Santa Claus were the star attractions of Crowley’s Kiwanis Christmas Parade.
