Vermilionville’s Les Main Guidées: Chickens! Chickens! Chickens!
Vermilionville continues to host monthly workshops allowing attendees to learn a craft from the Acadian, Creole and Native American ways of life.
Topics range from woodcarving to foodways (and many things in between).
This subject of this weekend’s Les Main Guidées is “Chickens! Chickens! Chickens!”
Back yard and suburban chicken keeping is becoming more popular, and this class will get you started.
Heritage Gardner Michael Fowler will discuss the raising and care of chickens. Topics will include feeding, basic health needs, coop specifications, flock management, predator control and more.
Participants will have the opportunity to tour Vermilionville’s chicken yard and meet some of the venue’s heritage birds.
The workshop is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, and the cost is $22.50.
