Statewide, parish cases increasing

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to climb across Louisiana and here in Acadia Parish.
At its noon briefing on Monday, the Louisiana Department of Health reported that the number of coronavirus cases in the state increased by 1,705 and the number of deaths increased by seven since noon on Sunday.
The total number of cases in the state now stands at 79,827. A total of 3,315 people have died of the disease in Louisiana as of Monday.
LDH also reported that 1,308 people are hospitalized — up 65 from Sunday. Of those, 142 required ventilators — up eight from Sunday.
In Acadia Parish, the number of confirmed cases now stands at 1,383, an increase of 44 since the Sunday report. A total of 45 people have died of the virus in Acadia, no change from Sunday.
