Army reservist accused in pair of recent shootings
An Army reservist is accused in a September shooting at the Opelousas Walmart and a November shooting during a police chase.
Kevin Vallian, 30, of Opelousas was arrested Friday at Lucky’s Truck Stop Casino outside Opelousas where he was employed as an unarmed security guard. Police stated they found two illegal weapons on Vallian during the arrest.
He is accused of firing 20 round from a rifle into the Opelousas Walmart store on Sept. 24. No one was injured.
On Nov. 17, police said shots were fired during a pursuit through neighborhoods in southwest Opelousas and Vallian was identified as the suspect.
Vallian was arrested for treason; four counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer; aggravated assault with a firearm; illegal carrying of weapons; aggravated criminal damage to property; nine counts of red light violations; and reckless operation.
Police are looking for a blue 2000 Buick LeSabre with license plate number YNT730.
