Lady Rebels knock off Sam Houston in South Beauregard Tournament
The Midland Lady Rebels saved their best for last in the South Beaurgard Tournament over the weekend.
A day after knocking off Class 4A DeRidder, the Lady Rebels picked up an impressive 60-50 victory over Class 5A Sam Houston on Saturday to close out tournament play.
The Lady Rebels (5-9) took a slim 10-9 advantage after the first quarter and then exploded for 21 points in the second frame to take a 31-18 advantage into the break.
Jacklyn Sims poured in six points and seven Lady Rebels contributed points during the outburst.
Emma Boudreaux got hot in the third quarter and scored nine points as the two teams traded baskets the entire frame scoring 15 each.
Sam Houtson made a late run and outscored the Lady Rebels 17-14 in the final stanza, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.
Boudreaux was one of four Lady Rebels to score in double figures with 14 points. Sage Wimberly followed with 12 points. Lizzy Habetz and Sims each scored 11.
Also contributing were Gracie Miller with five points; Caitlyn Boudreaux, 4; Hailey Seax, 2; and Ravyn Miguez, 1.
The Lady Rebels return to action Thursday when they take on Vermilion Catholic in the Lake Arthur Tournament at 7:30 p.m.
