Prep Roundup: Warriors win big; Lake Arthur sweeps Notre Dame
CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Warriors took another step towards the District 6-C title Tuesday.
The Warriors exploded for 57 points in the first half, including 32 in the opening frame, and went on from there to cruise to an 89-38 victory over outmanned and winless South Cameron.
The Warriors (14-12, 7-0) got 22 points from both Keegan Foreman and Landen Istre in the blowout in which nearly every player on the roster scored.
Jagger Thibodeaux and Bailey Landry followed with eight and seven points, respectively.
Issac Temple scored six points; Andy Wang and Carson Tweedel each added five; Caleb Hanks and Garrett Kidder each scored four and Jake Morgan, Andrew Woods and Damian Istre each finished with two.
The Warriors close out league play on Friday with a home contest against Starks.
Lake Arthur sweeps ND
CROWLEY – The Lake Arthur Tigers logged a sweep of Notre Dame Tuesday evening at A.B. Dore Gym.
The Lady Tigers doubled up the Lady Pios in the opener, 60-30, and the Tigers upended the hosts, 48-35, in the boys game.
In the girls game, the No. 3 ranked Lady Tigers cruised out to a 35-13 advantage at the break and never looked back.
Jeanne Clair Schmid paced the Lady Pios with six points and Anne Hundley had five. Margaret Schmid and Kelsey Broussard each added four points and Maggie Chiasson had three.
Gabby Cates, Emma Leonards, Angel Smith and Lauren Comeaux rounded out the Lady Pios’ offense with two points each.
In the boys game, the Tigers used a 13-3 run in the second quarter to take a 29-20 advantage at the break.
The Pios rallied in the third quarter to get within five (36-31) but the Tigers outscored the hosts 12-2 in the fourth quarter.
Zach Lamm and Nick Swacker led the Pios with eight and seven points, respectively. Nyles Billy and Matt Bernard each added five points, Teddy Menard and Chris Schmid each had four and Tylan Turner finished with two.
Notre Dame returns to action Friday with a doubleheader at Welsh.
