The International Rice Festival has announced that its 83rd queen, Jimi Madison Joubert, has agreed to continue her reign until the 84th festival is held and a new queen is crowned.
Today the International Rice Festival issued the following statement:
The 84th International Rice Festival has selected Gilles Piron as president to preside over the 2020 festivities.
On Saturday night, several volunteers, board members, and the International Rice Festival Queen attended the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals (LAFF) in Baton Rouge where the Rice Festival received awards for Best Brochure, Best Web-Site, and the coveted “Festival of the Year” in Division 4. This marks the third consecutive year the festival has won the “Festival of the Year” honors. Among those on hand to accept the honors were, seated from left, Jimi Joubert, 83rd International Rice Festival Queen; Connie Nutt, festival co-chair; Shanna Monk, festival coordinator; Josh Spell, general chairman; Deborah Whiting, 83rd Festival president; Suzy Webb, board member; standing from left, Docq Gaspard, Sybil Duncan, Kathy Duncan, Barbara LeBlanc, Julian LeBlanc, Cheryl Gaspard and Jeff Simon, board members; Kathryn Duncan, 81st International Rice Festival Queen; and J.C. This past weekend, members of the International Rice Festival Association attended the 89th Annual Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Convention held at the Crown Plaza in Baton Rouge.
