International Rice Festival Blood Drive slated for today
Join Vitalant in celebrating what makes Crowley great! Vitalant and the International Rice Festival are teaming up to save lives, while enjoying the fun and festivities to come.
When you donate blood, you’re able to save up three lives in your communities. Remember, it is the blood on the shelf before accidents happen that saves lives. Plus, when you donate, you could score a free ride bracelet!
Mike Pastor, chairman, is urging the community to donate with Vitalant Monday, Oct. 14, from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Rice Festival Building at 717 W. Mill St.
The first 90 donors will get a ride bracelet to the International Rice Festival. Bracelets are on a first come, first serve basis and while supplies last. Bracelet is redeemable on the following festival days: Thursday. Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 20.
Vitalant exists to ensure a safe blood supply is there for patients who need it. Regular commitments to blood donation keep communities strong with an ample blood supply.
For more information about blood donations please visit us at Vitalant.org or call 877-25VITAL(258-4825).
Blood donation takes about an hour from check-in to refreshments. Donors can save about 20 minutes by completing their Fast Track Health History the day they donate. It’s at vitalant.org.
Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 and 17 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
